![]() ![]() The Pollack FamilyWe are pleased to honor the Pollack Family- Matthew and Judith Pollack & Steve Pollack and Gabriela Alvarez-Pollack. The Pollacks been involved with JDRF for almost two decades, supporting the JDRF – San Diego Chapter since the early 1990s. They have been steadfast and dedicated to finding a cure ever since Steve was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of three. Steve has provided leadership at JDRF as a member of the Board of Directors for the past four years and has been selected by the Board to become the next Board President in July 2010. Steve also has served as the Committee Chair for the Walk to Cure Diabetes in San Diego for the past five years. In these roles, Steve has helped raise over $8 million for research. Gaby, in addition to supporting Steve, has been a champion for JDRF at USE Credit Union, making it one of JDRF’s most successful and enthusiastic corporate partners. USE Credit Union has raised over $35,000 in the past four years! On top of supporting the Walk and the Promise Ball, the family has also organized art shows that have raised thousands of dollars for research. Steve and Gaby have been married for 15 years and resided in Mexico City before moving to San Diego eight years ago. Matt and Judy’s support and commitment to finding a cure for diabetes goes back to the 1980s, before the JDRF San Diego Chapter had even formed. In addition to generously supporting the Walk to Cure Diabetes, Matt and Judy make significant sponsorship and Fund A Cure donations to the Promise Ball every year. This will be the fifth year that they have sponsored the Promise Ball, contributing to the fantastic success of an event that has raised over $9 million in 10 years! Matt and Judy are long time residents of San Diego, spending the last 33 years of their 50-year marriage here. We are proud to recognize the Pollack Family as our 2010 Promise Ball Honorees for their never-ending commitment to the JDRF mission. Thank you, Matt, Judy, Steve and Gaby! |
